Our differences make us unique, financial planning is not a one size fits all proposition, women need to identify the money issues affecting their lives and use our personal life experiences to better help us plan for the future.
You can never be too informed. The more knowledge you have, the better decisions you can make. Wisdom is making decisions based upon knowing all the information you can, and how to best make the decisions that empower you with that knowledge.
Identify and write down goals. What do you want to be? What do you want to do? What will bring you your greatest joy? When do you want to do these things?
 |
Think, Dig Deep, Dream Big, and WRITE IT DOWN! |
 |
“How will I achieve my dreams, what will it take to start?”
Understand what your options are.
Get a plan of action!
Consider the risk factor, what is the potential gain? How do I balance my goals with the reality of my resources?
I believe that we as women need to understand the basics of budgeting, how to calculate our net worth, how to manage our debt, the basics of taxes, paying attention to our spending habits and goal setting for the future.

As a woman, the more you know about your finances and how
they can work for you, the better off you will be.
Do you have a will; if so is it up to date, a medical directive, and a trust?
Do you know where these documents are?
Do you know who to call?

We need to examine what investments we do have, for example, do you know what a mutual fund is, can you explain the difference between stocks and bonds, what is an annuity, how does it work? If you own any of these investments and you don't know why, perhaps it's time to sit down and find out!

These Compelling Statistics?

each and every one of us.

After reviewing the stats, you must begin to consider the outcome of these findings.
The first step is to think about and write down financial goals and objectives. Less than 1% of women do this, but writing down goals can be a powerful tool. When you have considered and written your goals down, then you can better determine the steps and strategies to take to meet those goals.
Some questions that will help you:
 |
Ask yourself, what do YOU want to do
with your one wild and precious life? |
 |
Do you want to work, full or part time, or retire at a certain age?
Do you want money for things like travel or education, hobbies or art lessons?
And most importantly how will you take care of YOURSELF?
Writing down your goals is an important step
in determining financial strategy.
Before you can implement your strategy to meet your goals, you will need a plan. This is the road map to your success. Sure there is something to be said for the adventure of just seeing where the road leads. But do you really want to leave your financial future up to chance?
A financial planner's job is to get you started. Whether you are looking to buy a new home, a second home, save for your children's or grandchildren's education, plan for retirement or just get a grip on your finances; the service of a good financial planner can help you map out the best route.
This is what I do.
After looking at your current financial situation and discussing your goals, a good financial planner will develop a plan to make your vision a reality. This can include creating a budget, establishing a savings strategy, exploring investments, planning for taxes or retirement, talking about Long Term Care, debt repayment, estate plans… or all of the above.
A good financial planner is a great place to begin. Although it's often hard to find a good woman planner as 80% of financial planners are men!
Most planners are not willing to educate you. I am.
I am dedicated to helping women become financially independent through sound decisions
